Lightning McQueen was kind enough to...well I guess stand up and not sit down, for a quick, tiny axe throwing interview after she absolutely crushed a match. I had never met Lightning before the interview, and have absolutely no idea about them outside of these questions, and the fact that they destroyed it with a big axe at the Urban Open moments before conducting the interview.
What advice would you offer a new thrower?
I would say befriend your leaguers and use their axes. Everyone is so nice and willing to share that finding the right axe will be easy with help - and that's half the game.
What would you say is your favorite part about how you throw?
I'm trying to have fun. I'm still climbing, I'm on my way up. I know I'm not going to win [the Urban Open] so I'm just here to have a good time.
How do you think axe throwing could change for the better?
I can't even say more accessible, as I feel like venues are everywhere. I don't know. I do like how Urban did scoring yesterday - even though it needs some adjustment after we've had a full-scale go of it, but it's a good way to make a middle tier. Premier is tough for a lot of people. It's like [the standard ruleset] is fun, and premier is more challenging. Urban is a nice middle point.
