Introducing Our UK Correspondent: C-man.

The Axe Badger continues its attempt to assemble an adventuring party in axe throwing - this time we made some connections to the throwers in the UK, and found yet another little cherub to help discuss what's happening far away from our headquarters (which is, in fact, a blanket fort somewhere in Lancaster, Pennsylvania). Andrew (our Aussie correspondent) was kind enough to help make the connections to Connor (who you'll meet in just a second). We're expanding, y'all!

So without further hubbalub, here's C-man's first post:

THE HERO NOBODY ASKED FOR. LITERALLY, NOBODY.

Hello friends, I'm Connor. Better known by my axe throwing alias: C-man. Originating from another world, otherwise known as the United Kingdom!

The Axe Badger's recent expansion to a land down under led to an Aussie friend (his name shall not be spoken aloud, but it rhymes “A million”) reaching out to me asking if I'd like to do some writing for this blog. Naturally I said yes. Then the Badger himself reached out and gave me the low down so here I am today.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Interviews from throwers all around the UK and Europe, 3am axe thoughts and theories that cross my mind, an insight into (probably) the youngest axe throwing community in the world and other whimsical nonsense that the Axe Badger approves of.

MY JOURNEY SO FAR

My axe throwing journey started around three years ago after a long trip travelling around New Zealand. I came back lost, with no sense of direction when suddenly… I received a message from my stepmom Alex aka Kitty, co-owner of Lumberjaxs UK. She asked if I wanted to have a throw; of course I did! I instantly fell in love with the sport and was offered a job coaching. After a year of coaching and throwing  I ended up travelling to Australia with my partner to throw more axes and coach more people at MANIAX. Currently living back in the UK with hopes to travel more! I feel truly blessed to have been able to watch two communities grow exponentially over these last few years.

C-MAN? WHAT DOES THE C STAND FOR?

A mystery as old as time itself. Some say the C changes in definition based on its subject. Courage? Clutch? Chlamydia? Cu… never mind. Whatever the case may be I will leave this mystery to you dear reader. Let your mind wonder in awe as I take you on a journey to the dark corners of my mind. To lands unknown (and maybe best left alone).

AXE THROWING IN THE UK AND EUROPE

As future blogs come in you can expect to hear from league members from venues that have been here since the start and those still blossoming. We only have a select number of affiliated venues including:

Skeeters - Hackney Wick, London

Axecadia - Bridgwater, South west

Lumberjaxs - Tamworth and Nuneaton, Midlands

Axecape - Coalville, Midlands

Valhalla North - Bishop Auckland, North East

Axe Nation - Krakow and Katowice, Poland

All of these venues have developed communities both small and large, connecting a group of people who otherwise would not have had any correspondence. That is the beauty of this whimsical sport (maybe a cult).

With that my friends I will leave you to continue your day and remember; if you can do one thing today, be kind.

Thank you for reading!

Your friendly neighbourhood C-man.
